Question
I would like to know whether the Hadith that Allah has spoken to Adam (Alaihi Salaam) and has thought him all the names afterwards Adam has put all the names in his belt. I would like to know, whether this Hadith is strong or not Saheeh or not?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. We did not find anything in all the authentic sources of Sunnah we searched that includes this information. So, we believe that it is erroneous. What is sure and certain is that Allah taught Adam (Alaihi Salaam) the names of all things as Allah informed in Qur'an. It is very possible that Allah taught Adam all these names in ways other than reading or writing. Allah knows best.
