Question
Is it Haram to look at newspapers with naked women?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Looking at pictures of naked women in newspapers and magazines is forbidden. This is the Fatwa of Sheikh Abd Al-Aziz Bin Baaz and others. Their evidence is the general meaning of the following verse: {Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.)…..}[24:30].
As for reading the news without looking at pictures of naked women, it is lawful. But it is unlawful for the owners of these newspapers to publish such pictures. As it is forbidden for the one who buys such newspapers to leave them in places where they can be looked at by those who do not usually lower their gaze. Rather he should destroy such newspapers.
