I have a problem with sleeping, especially if I am stressed or worried about something. Can you give me a Du'a which I can read before I go to bed?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
There are some forms of Dhikr and supplications that some scholars of Hadith believe that they did not reach the state of authenticity. However, they can be applied in the situation you described.
Al Tirmizi reported from Khalid Ibn Al Waleed Al Makhzumi that he said to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam): ‘O! Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam), I do not sleep at night because of insomnia.’ The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said to him: “When you lay on your bed say: ‘O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and what they shade, Lord of the seven earths and what they carry, Lord of the Satans and those that they misguide, be my protector from the evil of Your all creatures that they not harm me or offend me. You are the most powerful protector; Your praise is most high. No one is worthier to be worshipped, and no one should be worshipped except You.’
Also, it is reported in Al Mu’ejam Al Kabeer of Tabarani from the Hadith of Zayd Ibn Thabit that he said: “I suffered from insomnia. Then I complained to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) he said: “Say: O! Allah, the stars have fallen down, the eyes have resorted to resting and You are the Ever living, The Only One Who Sustains. O! The Ever living, The Only One who sustains make my eye sleep and make my night peaceful.” I said this then the insomnia disappeared.”
Allah knows best.
