Question
I need to know is selling the VCD halal or haram?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
If this VCD contains Haram things then it is Haram to sell or publish it. If it contains disliked things then its sale and publication are disliked. If it contains only permissible things then it is permissible to sell it or publish it. If it contains desirable things then its sale are publication are desirable because it is considered as spreading righteousness. This ruling applies if the VCD belongs to the seller.
However, if these VCD's are the property of others, the material that they contain belongs to other people who have spent a lot of money in editing them, then selling them without the consent of the person who made them, is indeed transgression of their right which result a loss of in their effort and money.
