Fatwa CenterWants to name his son Muhammad Ibraaheem
Question
Allaah is blessing us with a baby boy. We plan to name him Muhammad Ibraaheem. We request your opinion on this name. We are bit afraid that, later, people may call him 'Hey Ibraaheem' or 'O Ibraaheem'; this may affect the dignity of Ibraaheem, may Allaah exalt his mention. Your opinion will be greatly appreciated.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
It is Islamically permissible to name your new-born child after the names of the Prophets; it is even desirable to do so as their names are among the best names.
Besides, calling a new-born 'O Ibraaheem' is not decreasing the status of the Prophet Ibraaheem (Abraham) 
.
The Prophet and some Companions 
named their sons after the names of some Prophets as you mentioned in the question. If naming children after Prophets includes some prohibitions, the Prophet and his Companions would certainly not have named their children with such names.
