Fatwa Center40-years-old and wants abortion
Question
Is it permissible to go for abortion after 3 months pregnancy, although there is no health problems to the mother but because of her age of 40-years and with grown up children she fills very shy and insists on abortion?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Abortion is forbidden unless there is dire necessity as mentioned in our previous Fatwa: 87467.
Feeling embarrassment due to her grown up children is not an acceptable excuse for aborting a fetus and it is a major great sin.
