I am 48-years-old, but new Muslim (2 years). I am divorced from non-Muslim woman from my non-Muslim life. I met a young Muslim woman, only 22-years. Is it good way to build a family together?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The difference of age between the husband and wife is something common and approved by the Islamic legislation. The most important consideration is religion and piety. There was a big difference of age between the Prophet and his wives. He married Khadeejah when she was 15 years older than him and he married 'Aa'ishah while she was much younger than him. So the difference of age whether it is great or small does not constitute an obstacle in Islam and it does not have a bad effect in practical life unless there is a weakness in religion and moral standards or the existence of another obstacle that hinders the performance of the requirements and obligations of marital life. Finally, we draw your attention that correct marriage has conditions to be valid like the existence of a Wali (guardian) of the bridegroom and the two witnesses.
Allaah knows best.
