Question
Is it possible women or men to see each other after they divorce?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If a husband divorces his wife a revocable divorce, i.e. the first or second divorce the wife has to observe a waiting period which is three menstrual periods. During this waiting period she remains his wife and all the rulings of a wife apply to her. So, he can see her and talk to her. At the end of this period unless they reconcile, the woman is divorced and becomes totally alien to her former husband and all the rules of an alien woman apply to her.
If the divorce is irrevocable, i.e. the third divorce, then she becomes forbidden and alien to him immediately. So, all the rulings of an alien man and woman should be regarded.
