Question
I have been using a cleaning spray product to clean my desk etc. I found out lately that it contained beef derived substances. So now I feel like this Najas is in a lot of places, I fear it is on my phone, my wallet, my cloths, even my prayer mat. It is like I think that when I touch my phone and my hand is sweaty, it transfers the Najas to the next thing I touch. I tried going over some stuff with a wet piece of cloth but still, as I said, I fear that it is in a lot of places. I am worried about the validity of my prayers, as well as transferring this Najas to other people when I shake their hands.
I mean if anything, the amount of this cleaner that was probably present on my things was small, I don't smell it on any of them anymore, but still I am worried and I need and answer please.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
There is no doubt that the flesh of the cows that are not slaughtered according to Islamic rites is impure. However, if the derivatives of this flesh that is added to the cleaning products are completely transformed from their original nature and original essence, to an extent that they have completely become another product and no [effect of] colour or taste or smell remained in them, then it appears, Allaah Knows best, that these derivatives are pure and therefore they take the ruling of the product to which they were transformed. The majority of the scholars
are of the view that if an impure item is transformed it becomes pure, and this is the view of the Hanafi and Maaliki schools, according to the most preponderant opinion of their schools. Therefore, since this is the case, and since those derivatives were transformed from their original nature to other different products, then there is no need to worry as they are considered pure.
