Question
I'm not Muslim, but I was living with a Muslim. Although we knew it was not supposed to be like that. He tried, I started reading the Quran and liked, we have a son that is now 4 years old. He loves his son like never see before. All of a sudden he disappeared. My son keeps asking for him, talking about him and walking around the house with his picture. I need help what can I tell my son if I don't even know what happened myself.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

We understood from your question that you were living with a Muslim man without marrying him i.e. you were in illicit relation with him, which is not only forbidden in Islam but it is forbidden in all divine religions. No religion allows such relations since it is fornication and a shameless evil which has bad consequences in both this life and the Hereafter. The man should repent to Allaah sincerely, and he might have done it since his repentance means separating from you to avoid being in this forbidden practice.
As for the child, you and the Muslim man are the responsible for his loss, and depriving him from his fatherly love. This is one of the bad outcomes of illegal sexual intercourse, because a fornicator or adulterer does not bear the responsibility of his hideous act and the child misses his caretaker – the father. If this child was born from a legal marriage the father would not have thought of running away from him leaving him alone.
Now you cannot do anything except asking Allaah to protect your child from evil and guide him to what is beneficial for him.
