Are we allowed to read Quran for the deceased person? When King Fahad had died all the radio and TV channels had been reciting Quran. What benefit can the deceased obtain from this?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
There is no harm in reading the Quran and gifting its reward for the dead according to a group of scholars. We have already issued Fatwa 86828 on the ruling of gifting the reward of reading the Quran to the dead, so please refer to it.
Allaah Knows best.
