There is what is called nowadays ‘artificial menses’, which is a medical treatment for women who are in menopause, and it has some symptoms similar to that of ordinary menses. There are many benefits in it for the health of the woman. So what is the ruling on the acts of worship of this woman when she is in such artificial menses?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If the blood discharge has the description of menses, then it is menses; the woman who has this blood is forbidden to perform the prayer, to fast or touch the Quran, and other rulings that apply to her. There is no difference if this blood is before the age of menopause or after it, or that it comes out by itself or by a treatment.
We advise you to abandon such medical treatment as good lies in what Allaah has predestined for women. It might be that among the wisdoms of menses stopping at the age of menopause is that the woman could resort to the worship of Allaah and make up for the fasting that she missed when pregnant and in post partum period.
Allaah Knows best.
