Question
Asak, I want to get advise on tubulagation. I had 3 normal pregnancies but was on bedrest for a month with first and third child and 3 months with second child. i dont have lot of help around house as my husband works full time and it gets to challenging when I am on bedrest. My husbands tries to manage it any how but I know how difficult it is, also did try pills, stuck with side effects. Did try IUD got infected. Condoms ya also having infection with it tried different kinds. JazakAllah.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
We have already issued many Fataawa clarifying that permanent sterilization is forbidden unless in case of dire necessity, like when the pregnancy is a life threat to the mother, or that the mother experiences difficulty and pain that she cannot endure due to the pregnancy, and there is no other means to prevent pregnancy except the tubal ligation. We are not referring here to the normal pain and difficulty that all women undergo during delivery.
It is the trustworthy doctors who should determine these threats, pains, and difficulties.
Therefore, if the surgical sealing of the fallopian tubes will lead to permanent sterilization, then this is absolutely not permissible except with the requirements which we have already mentioned.
However, if the surgical sealing of the fallopian tubes does not lead to permanent sterilization (permanent birth prevention) in a way that it can be re-opened afterwards, and that the mother just wanted to stop the pregnancy for a limited period of time and did not find a way except sealing the fallopian tubes, then it is permissible to carry out the tubal ligation when there is a dire need to do that.
