Assalamu Alaikum wa Rathmatullahi wa Barakatuhu. I had my menses and after five days, the bleeding stopped and becomes brownish in colour. I started praying again and had relations with my husband. Following intercourse, I started bleeding again, lightly, but red in colour. Does this count as my menses or a vein. This is the first time I have had this, usually my menses are regular in length, three to five days. Barakalowfic
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
If your monthly menses runs for a maximum of five days as you mentioned in the question and the blood stopped after five days, then the bleeding which you had after this period is not considered as menses because it is bleeding outside the days of menses. It is known that the minimum period of purity between two menses is fifteen days according to the view of the majority of the scholars .
However, a group of scholars stated that if a woman has a definite period for her menses and then she sees bleeding after her normal menses, then she should not consider this bleeding as menses unless it occurs thrice, in which case her regular menses would be considered to have increased – and this is the view of the Hanbali school of jurisprudence..
Therefore, the bleeding which you saw after your period of menses is not menses but rather (irregular) bleeding outside your monthly menses.
Allaah Knows best.
