When a Muslim husband dies, the wife is supposed to be in Iddah for four months and ten days. Does anyone from the husband's side need to read a "NIYYA" for the Iddah?

My grandfather was not Muslim and had sons with women he was informally (not religiously) married to. Are my uncles born from these women considered to be my Mahram or must I cover in front of them?
