To what extent can messages be shared on WhatsApp? I mean between brothers and sisters, and their husbands and the wives of brothers, on a daily basis; this includes joking, video messages, and sometimes un-Islamic content; is this considered part of upholding the ties of kinship?

Chatting lawful only within the limits of Shariah
I recently married and my wife and me are very close however she sometimes chats on line with her family. That is a good thing but I have a problem when she chats with her cousins who are not her Muharim. In addition, I don't want to cut the relation with her relative.
