Assalaamu Alaikum
Can we give a arabic Quran to a non muslim if they understand arabic? If the answer is no. What is the language of the Quran that is given to a non muslim in an arabic speaking country?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
We previously clarified in Fatwa 86077 that it is not permissible for the Muslim to give a copy of the Noble Quran to a non-Muslim and that it is permissible to give him a translated copy (translation of the meanings of the Quran). This applies to the non-Muslim who cannot read Arabic. As for the non-Muslim who reads Arabic, he may be given some booklets which explain the meaning of Islam and at the same time do not contain verses from the Quran.
Moreover, the recorded tapes do not take the same ruling of the Quran, as stated in Fatwa 81869, so it is possible to give him tapes which contain Quranic verses or lectures that explain Islam. For further information, refer to Fatwa 84037.
Allaah Knows best.
