What is the ruling of making the Sharee‘ah-approved Ruqyah whereby the person making Ruqyah uses the Jinn so they can tell him about the condition of the patient, given that that person is known to be righteous in religion and conduct?
What is the Sharee‘ah ruling on making Ruqyah for an absent patient by reciting over his photo?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger. Seeking the help of the Jinn in making the Sharee‘ah-approved Ruqyah is impermissible because it involves a form of ‘making use’ of them which Allaah The Almighty dispraises in the Quran. He Says (what means): {And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term, which you appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allaah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."}[Quran 6: 128] According to the scholars of Tafseer (Quranic exegesis), people who make use of the Jinn must fulfill their needs; and the Jinn making use of people means that humans obey the Jinn and follow their commands. Also, please note that Ruqyah is to be made by direct recitation over the patient or reciting over water then drinking it or making Ghusl (ritual bathing) with it. It was not narrated by any of the righteous predecessors that Ruqyah can be made over an absent person. Consequently, it is considered a religious innovation. Allaah Knows best.
