The testament of the owner of the Ka‘bah key is fake

Question

There is a message distributed by people who claim that it is from the owner of the key to the Ka‘bah where he talks about a dream. At the end of the message the man says that whoever sends it to 25 people will receive wealth, be successful, etc. What is the correct response to this message?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

This is an old religious innovation that many scholars have refuted in various countries. The most important of these responses is that of Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Ibn Baaz may Allaah have mercy upon him of which thousands of copies have been printed. The summary of his argument is:

There is no owner of the key of the Ka‘bah because its key is possessed by the government which provides for the Inviolable Mosque of Makkah and the prophetic Mosque of Madeenah.

Furthermore, dreams cannot provide a Sharee‘ah ruling or be used as a basis for a worldly action. They neither harm nor benefit because both harm and benefit are only from Allaah The Almighty. Scholars have talked about this message, refuted its contents and demonstrated to people that it is misguiding and a religious innovation, thus it is impermissible for anyone to distribute or spread it. If a person does, then they will bear a great share of the offense and sin.

This message has reached us and we discussed it publicly and clarified that it is a religious innovation before tearing it up in front of the people. We were certainly not afflicted with any harm by doing this (as the message claimed we would be) thanks to Allaah The Almighty. The message contains mere hallucinations and superstitions and is mostly thought to be the work of the enemies of Islam. Muslims are innocent of making up such falsehood.

Allaah Knows best.
