Question
What are the symptoms of a person influenced by a magic spell?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Magic spells cause many apparent symptoms like abnormal actions, forgetfulness, and lack of concentration. Indeed, magic actually exists in reality and has a harmful effect and practicing it is an act of disbelief.
A person may guard against it by observing the Athkaar (words of remembrance) regularly and reciting the Chapters Al-Ikhlaas and Al-Mu‘awithataan (the Chapters Al- Falaq and An-Nas) before going to sleep and upon waking up. A person should always beware of Satan's whisperings. You may also review Fataawa 22876, 14847 and 5856.
