Reciting the Quran provides protection from Jinn

Question

Aslam-o-alaiikum, brother, I needed to ask a question. My friends have been telling about this large shadow following and choking them, and everytime it appears, there's this writing on the wall that appears too, some symbols and letters, and names, it has been bothering them a lot. Most of them are new converts, and I told them to say 'Allah' or say 'Fear Allah or be thrown to hell fire' when they encounter that, they are new muslims and can't read the quran, just converted a few days ago so I say simple things to them to say, anyways when they say these things, they sometimes hear a laugh followed by screams but most of the time, screams. But it goes away for a while when they say this but comes back after a few days or hours. Also, most of them also experience fever and lung pain sometimes, when it appears. This happened to 4 of my friends and they said on the wall they saw my name too. I read surah nas and surah falaq to protect myself, but I fear for them. Please help us to get rid of this evil, it started from one particular house the markings and then spread to other houses, once that thing is gone it disappears. I've a picture of the symbols too, Idk how to send it to you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we ask to Allaah protect us, you and those brothers and to keep all of us firm on the straight path. We have already explained in Fataawa 83873 and 5241that it is possible for Jinn to harm humans and how to protect oneself from them.

We advise you to teach them to memorize Aayat Al-Kursi (Quran 2:225), the last two verses of Soorah Al-Baqarah, and Quran 112, 113 and 114. By regularly reciting the above verses, Allaah will protect them from the demons. In an account in Al-Bukhari's Saheeh in which Abu Hurayrah was assigned to keep guard of the Zakatul-Fitr, and it reads:

“He said to me, "When you go to bed, recite Aayatul-Kursi, and Allaah will appoint a guard for you to stay with you, and no devil will come near you till morning." The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "He spoke the truth, though he is a liar. That was a devil."” [Al-Bukhari]

Abu Moosa may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “If one recites the last two verses of Soorah Al-Baqarah [Quran 2:285-286] in one night, they will be sufficient for him.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Also, An-Nu‘maan ibn Basheer may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Indeed Allaah wrote in a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, He sent down two verses from it to end Soorah Al-Baqarah. If they are recited for three nights in a home, no devil will come near it.” [At-Tirmithi]

It is alright to play a recording of Soorah Al-Baqarah to rid the house of demons as the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Indeed, the devil flees away from the house where Soorah Al-Baqarah is recited.” [Muslim]

Moreover, Sahl ibn Sa‘d may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Everything has a peak, and Al-Baqarah is the peak of the Quran. If one recites Al-Baqarah at night in his house, the devil will not enter that house for three nights. If one recites it during the day in his house, the devil will not enter that house for three days.” [Ibn Hibban in his Saheeh - and in At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb, it is declared Hasan (good) due to corroborating accounts]

Allaah Knows best.
