Asalamo AlaikumWhen someone gets scared of jinns and goes to hide in the room of one's father or so,Is he committing shirk by taking his father as a protector besides ALLAH?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
What you are asking about is not Shirk at all, as it is permissible to seek the help of others in matters that they are generally able to do. Allah Says about Moses (what means): {And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy.} [Quran 28:15]
Furthermore, Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said: "Allah helps His slave as long as he helps his brother.” [Muslim]
We draw your attention that you must avoid whispers about the fear of the jinn, as this is a kind of disease that can lead to bad consequences in the future.
The best thing to do in order to avoid the evil of the jinn is to recite the Quran and Athkaar (legislated mention of Allah), especially the Athkaar of the morning and evening.
The issue of the jinn is not as some people think that they are strong and cannot be overcome. Rather, jinn become strong when man is weak due to his heedlessness of Allah and negligence in mentioning Him. Allah Says (what means):
• {And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.} [Quran 43:36]
• {Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them to [evil] with [constant] incitement?} [Quran 19:83]
The devil becomes very weak when Allah is mentioned. The matter about him is as Allah Says (what means): {Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak.} [Quran 4:76]
Therefore, it is possible to repel the jinn and drive them away with the legislated fortifications [Athkaar, Quranic verses or Chapters, and Prophetic supplications].
Therefore, fearing their harm and resorting to someone who can confront them, is a natural fear.
Allah knows best.
