My wife and I see disturbing dreams and strange things. Previously we received Quranic therapy for impotence, but after being granted recovery by Allaah The Almighty, we have a feeling that the effect of this spell is the cause of our strange dreams. A Shaykh told us that it is envy. What is your advice?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
We supplicate Allaah The Almighty to cure you and your wife and to protect you against evil.
Our advice to you is to seek refuge in Allaah The Almighty and have perfect reliance on Him, the best Guardian and the most Merciful. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Is not Allaah Sufficient for His slave?} [Quran 39:36]
{And if Allaah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him.} [Quran 6:17, 10:107]
{And whoever relies upon Allaah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allaah will accomplish His purpose. } [Quran 65:3]
Here is some advice from scholars for warding off the effects of the evil eye, magic and possession:
First, be careful not to give way to obsessions and illusions, which are symptoms of dangerous ailments causing deficiency in Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism) , weak reliance on Allaah The Almighty and loss of beneficial knowledge.
Ibn Al-Qayyim said that the person affected by magic sometimes causes himself to be exposed to such afflictions because of having baseless suspicions and illusions about this matter.
Second, make Sharee‘ah-approved Ruqyah (healing with the Quran and Prophetic supplications) and read protective Athkaar (words of remembrance). Ibn Al-Qayyim included here that you should repeatedly read the Chapters of Al-Falaq, An-Naas and Al-Faatihah and Al-Kursi verse. The Prophetic Athkaar here includes saying: "A‘oothu Bikalimaatillaahi At-Taammaati min Sharri maa Khalaq" (I seek refuge against all creatures of Allaah through His perfect words.)
Another supplication is to say: "A'oothu Bikalimaatiallaahi At- Taammah min kulli Shaytaanin wa Haammah wa min kulli ‘Aynin laamah." (I seek refuge against every devil, vermin and evil eye through the perfect Words of Allaah.)
Ibn Al-Qayyim added that those who have used these supplications acknowledge their benefit and the need for them.
It should be noted that Ruqyahs and Prophetic supplications are tools whose effectiveness is based on the user's degree of faith. Therefore, a person has to truly feel in his heart the meaning of these supplications, and to sincerely turn to Allaah The Almighty.
Third, there should be treatment of the effects of magic and the evil eye.
Fourth, do not go to sorcerers and soothsayers, who unlawfully exploit people's needs. It is narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that anyone who goes to a fortune-teller or a soothsayer and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. [Ahmad]
Fifth, adhere externally and internally to religious obligations. It is narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that Allaah The Almighty protects anyone who achieves piety by obeying His orders and abstaining from His prohibitions. [At-Tirmithi]
Ibn Al-Qayyim stated that malicious spirits overpower man if he has weak faith.
Some of the righteous predecessors said that if remembrance of Allaah The Almighty occupies a Muslim's heart, he can defeat Satan whenever he tries to harm him. In other words, by virtue of his strong belief, a believer can overcome Satan. It is narrated that that Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that Satan becomes weak and feeble with a believer’s strong belief. [Ahmad]
Allaah Knows best.
