Question
Many things were stolen from me, like money and gold, so, unfortunately, I went to diviners. What is the expiation for this sin?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
There is no expiation prescribed in the Sharee‘ah for going to soothsayers or diviners. Rather, a person should sincerely repent to Allaah and fulfill the conditions for repentance: regret of the sin, shunning it, and being determined to never to commit it again.
Please note that in a case like yours you must resort to Allaah and beseech and supplicate Him. This is the best way to remove distress, particularly by saying the supplication mentioned in the Hadeeth of Umm Salamah 
where the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, stated that if any Muslim who is afflicted by a calamity says what Allaah the Almighty ordered him to say, “Innaa lilaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji‘oon. Allaahumma'jurnee fee museebati wakhluf lee khayran minhaa” (Indeed we belong to Allaah, and indeed to Him we shall return. O Allaah! Reward me for my affliction and grant me something better than it), Allaah the Almighty will give them something better in exchange. [Muslim]
