Question
From time to time I have some twitching in my upper eyelids. I have noticed that when I have such twitching usually something bad happens to me. What do you think about this?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
First of all, it should be known that Allaah The Exalted alone knows what will happen in the future, be it good or bad. There is no way a person can predict the future. Therefore, what you expect, in terms of good or evil following the twitching of your eyelids, may be a type of superstition that the Arabs used to believe in during the pre-Islamic era. Consequently, you have to abolish this belief and do not pay attention to the twitching. You must firmly believe in the fact that what Allaah The Almighty wants to happen will certainly happen, and what He does not want to happen will never happen.
