Putting the Feet in the Water Container During Ablution

Question

I dip my feet into a bowl of water when doing wudu. There are small air bubbles in the water that attach to my feet. Does that mean my foot is not washed? As the bubbles may prevent water reaching the skin, if i dip my feet in multiple times can i assume the bubbles aren't in the exact same spot? Also do i still have to wipe between my toes when using a bowl, know that i try to spread the toes out in the bowl.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The legislated method in washing the foot and other parts of the body that must be washed in ablution, is to poor water on the limb that one wants to wash outside the container. As for putting your feet inside the container, then this will make the water lose its characteristic of being a purifier, according to the view of many scholars.

Therefore, we advise you to leave this method, in order to avoid the difference of opinion among the scholars, and to pour water on your feet outside the container.

As for your question about the bubbles and so on, then this is nothing but whispers and this is not real. So avoid these whispers and do not give them any attention, as giving in to whispers will lead you to a great evil.

Wiping between the fingers and toes in ablution is recommended, so try to do so, so that you apply the Sunnah, but beware of exaggeration.

Allah knows best.
