Question
Assalamu alaikum
How to give dawah to innovators? What to tell them to follow only Quran and Sunnah? Because when I tell them the right Sunnah way they refuse and fight.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
There are some matters that should be clarified which are as follows:
The first of which is that judging a person as an innovator or that his act is an innovation can only be done by the scholars who have grounded Islamic knowledge and not by any ordinary individual (layman).
The second of which is that those who would deny the innovation are the competent people who have clear-cut evidence that would refute and remove the misconception of the person who contradicts or opposes the truth, otherwise one would be causing more harm than benefit.
The third of which is that denying should be with wisdom, good exhortation, clarification of the Sunnah, and mentioning the texts of the scholars about this matter.
The fourth of which is that the caller (the Daa’iyah) should know that the guidance is Allah’s guidance, and that he should only convey the truth to the people and show them the right path, and that it is Allah who guides and enables the people, so if he advises the people, then he is acquitted from sin whether the person whom he called to do good responds to his call and takes heed or not.
