I suffer from a strange illness that physicians have failed to diagnose. I tried treatment with Ruqyah but my condition has not improved. What should I do?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
May Allaah The Almighty cure you! What you are suffering from may be an organic disease or it may be due to an evil eye from a human or a Jinn in the wake of sorcery or something like it. Therefore, we advise you first to consult physicians and not to be content with previous reports, because diseases are sometimes latent and no one can deny the variation among physicians in terms of their accuracy in diagnosis and professional skills.
You should know that relying on Allaah The Almighty and resigning your affairs to Him is the best recourse in times of affliction and at all times. It is the ultimate protection against the evil plans of schemers and cunning people. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And whoever relies upon Allaah -- then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allaah will accomplish His purpose.}[Quran 65:3]
The slave of Allaah The Almighty will be rewarded for every calamity that befalls him and Allaah The Almighty uses it to remove some of his sins. There is a Saheeh Hadeeth (authentic narration) narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim supporting this fact. Allaah The Almighty tested His slave Ayyoob (Job) because he was patient and sought refuge with Him. Consequently, Allaah The Almighty cured him and removed the adversity which he was experiencing.
We advise you to repeat the Shar‘i Ruqyah (healing with the Quran based on Islamic legislation) and to seek the help of religious people who master it, not those who practice sorcery. Rest assured that Allaah The Almighty does not send down a disease without sending its remedy, although it is known to some people and unknown to others. [Ahmad and Ibn Maajah]
We also advise you to remember Allaah The Almighty at all times, especially the Athkaar (remembrance) in the morning and evening, sleeping, eating, going out and coming into the house. These Athkaar have a great effect in expelling Satan and weakening his impact.
You should also read the verses and Hadeeths on the Shar‘i Ruqyah, such as Soorat Al-Falaq (Chapter 113), Soorat An-Naas (Chapter 114), the verse of Al-Kursi [2:255], the last two verses of Soorat Al-Baqarah, etc.
It is also permissible to recite these verses over water, drink it or rub it over the area of pain. We ask Allaah The Almighty to cure you and grant you good health.
And Allaah Knows best.
