Question
I am a student in a High School, and everywhere I look I see girls around me. As I learned when I was young that we are not supposed to look at girls, but in a situation like this, I am forced to glance them. Is this forbiden or not and please if there is any additional information about this send me .
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is Haraam (prohibited) to look at the other sex as they are not from among your Mahrams (unmarriageable ones). Allaah, the Great and Almighty, Says (what means): {And tell the believing men to lower their gaze - from looking at forbidden things - and protect their private parts, (from illegal sex). That is purer for them. Indeed, Allaah is All-Aware of what they do.}[Quran: 24:30] Therefore, you are to lower your gaze to the best of your abilities and to spare no effort to habituate yourself to that. In fact, Allaah will guide to the straight path and give special insight to the one who does his best to obey His orders. We ask Allaah, the Exalted, to grant all of us more success to do what pleases Him and what would keep us safe from His wrath.
