Question
I am aware that there is a well-known scholar by the name of Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi and I have noticed that many people are going on to his websites. I want to know if this scholar is of the Ahl Sunnah Wal Jamat and whether we Muslims should go on to his websites?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. A Muslim is advised to spend his time in gaining Islamic knowledge and getting the knowledge of the truth. It should be more important than talking about people and categorizing them. There is a known proverb "Know the truth and you will know its people". Sheikh al-Qardawi is one of the most eminent contemporary scholars who are recognized by their knowledge and efforts in the field of Da'wah. We think so, and Allah Knows best. Sometimes he makes mistakes like any other scholar. So, if his opinion is correct and proved by Shariah evidence, then one should act according to it otherwise we should find an excuse for him. This is the way one should deal with any scholar of the status of this great scholar. Allah knows best.
