Is it ok to hear Qur'an and at the same time play a game?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. It is Sunnah (highly recommended), when the Holy Qur'an is recited, that one listens quietly and attentively to the recitation. He must not engage himself in anything else. Allah the Exalted says: {So, when the Qur'ân is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy.}[7:204]. This was the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars. The Hanafi school of Jurisprudence sees that to listen quietly and attentively to the Qur'anic recitation is an obligation. Hence one has to give up playing while listening to the Qur'anic recitation. However, to listen to the Qur'anic recitation while one is playing a certain game is better than not listening to it at all, or listening to something Haram (unlawful) like music, songs, etc. Allah knows best.
