What is the ruling of Shariah concerning a father who prefers his daughter more than his sons?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Parents have to be just when dealing with their children in providing for them, gifting them, and other significant matters. If the parents are unjust towards their children, this causes division, separation and disagreement.
If one of the parents is unjust to one of his/her children, then the sons/daughters should advise that parent with wisdom and good words and remind him/her of his/her duty towards them.
If the parent stops that kind of relationship, then praise be to Allah, but if he persists in the same way, then the sons/daughters should be patient and never resort to being undutiful to their parent. Indeed, the right of the parents (on the children) is great.
Allah, The Most-High, associated His right with the right of parents, Saying: (what means) {And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents.} [Quran 17:23]
Allah knows best.
