Question
What do you think of using a means like incense in order to counteract (the effect of) magic?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We do not know that incense has any effect in counteracting the effect of magic. This is usually used by magicians on whom the devils descend and they like to smell many kinds of smells. It is only with the recitation of the Quran and mentioning the legislated prophetic supplications that magic can be counteracted.
