My mother is epileptic. How would it be possible to treat her? What is exactly this disease, taking into consideration that she is being treated with Ruqyah for three months but without benefit?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We have already discussed the Ruqyah by which one can treat epilepsy and other diseases in Fatwa 88705, so please refer to it.
As regards why this woman who was treated with Ruqyah is not cured, then this is a normal matter, as Ruqyah does not have any effect by itself but with Allaah's predestination and in a time that He wishes. In addition to this, a person who is performing Ruqyah may not correspond with the time when supplications are answered, either for a defect in himself, for instance if he does not have a correct belief, or that he is not really having a full trust in Allaah, or that this could be from the person on whom the Ruqyah is performed. It could be that the benefit for the patient in not in being cured, this could be among the calamities that befall a believer in this world and he will get the reward for it in the Hereafter.
Allaah Knows best.
