Question
What are the precautions that should be taken when leaving home and when carrying the pocket size Quran?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
It is good for a person to carry his pocket size Quran with him whenever he leaves home in order to take advantage of his time by reading the Quran, however, he should observe the etiquettes of carrying the Quran.
Among these etiquettes are the following:
1- He should not touch the Quran or carry it when he is not in a state of complete purity.
2- It is not permissible for him to enter the toilet with the Quran except in case of necessity, like fearing to be burnt, or drowned, or humiliated or forgetting the Quran [if one left it outside the toilet].
3- He should not expose the Quran to any form of the forms of humiliation, like sitting on it or leaning on it when in his possession.
