What is the ruling on a woman who massages her husband from his foot to his knee in the presence of his brothers because he was exhausted? Is this permissible or forbidden? Nonetheless, she sits in front of them wearing appropriate clothes, covering all her body and her hair.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
In order to protect the [women's] honour from being scratched, and protect the people from afflictions [and committing fornication or adultery], a man should not welcome his adult brothers in the room where his wife is. He should receive them in another room as the Prophet prohibited us from entering to women as he said: "Beware of entering to women.” A man from the Ansaar [the residents of Madeenah] asked: “What about the in-laws?” The Prophet replied: "The in-law is death [this is to emphasize the seriousness of entering to women].” Moreover, a wife massaging her husband in front of men is disliked if it is not for the purpose of treatment and the like as this contradicts bashfulness. This [the dislikeability] is even more confirmed if this massaging is accompanied with some kind of frolic.
