I am a Muslim and I'm not praying like 5 times a day because I am very busy with my studies, I only pray when I want to, I know all the Islam customs and the 5 pillars of Islam but I just can't resist to live up my life being in social life, I used to do a lot of things which is against in Islam. So do you think I can call myself a Muslim? A believer of Islam although I'm not practicing, what does Quran says?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
First of all, you should know dear questioner, that the prayer is the greatest pillar of Islam after the two testimonies of faith, and it is the first thing a person will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment. So, if one performed it and preserved it as Allaah prescribed it on him, he will be successful, otherwise he will be thrown into Hellfire.
It is confirmed that the Prophet said: "The first thing a person will be judged about on the Day of Judgement is his prayer, if his prayers are accepted, then he will be successful, and if his prayers are rejected, he will be among the losers." [Ahmad and An-Nasaa’ee] Furthermore, you should know that the prayer which you abandoned and neglected is no doubt greater and more important than all the things which you claimed to be very busy with. So, you should fear Allaah as long as there is a possibility for you to repent before the angel of death comes to you.
As regards what you mentioned about doing things which are contrary to Islam and whether or not you are considered a Muslim, the answer is that sins differ, some of them take the person out of the fold of Islam, and these are the most serious ones, and some are less serious. In both cases, one is obliged to repent to Allaah.
