Question
assalamwalakum, i am keeping nafl roza after my wishes were fullfilled.i made adua if my wishes will fullfill i will keep nafl roza. my friend told me that u should make iftar after magrid namaz but not before and u should make intention of roza 1 to 2 hours before fajr namza not in fajr namaz .is it true.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
The matter is not as your female friend said, so she must stop issuing Fatwa without knowledge.
A fasting person is permitted to break his/her fast when the sun sets and before he/she performs the prayer (Maghrib); rather, it is desirable for him/her to do so because hastening to break the fast is desirable as the Prophet said: “My nation will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast (i.e. as soon as the sun sets) and defer the Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) (i.e. as close to dawn prayer as possible).” [Ahmad]
Moreover, the Fiqh Encyclopedia reads: “…It is disliked for a fasting person to delay the breaking of the fast after the sun sets, because the Sunnah in this regard is to hasten to break the fast.”
Similarly, it is not an obligation to observe Imsaak (refraining from things that nullify the fast) one or two hours before Fajr; rather, Imsaak becomes obligatory only when the true Fajr time starts. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 89096 and 82474.
Finally, it should be noted that a vow does not become effective unless one stated it with a wording that implies that it is an obligation on him/her. However, if he/she merely said: "if my wishes are achieved, I will regularly observe the optional fasting", then the vow does not become effective by this; rather, this is a promise that is desirable to fulfill.
