Question
I have been married for 6 years and my wife doubts my loyalty to her everyday up to now. I did mistakes before, but I regret doing them. What should I do?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Dear inquirer!
You have to repent sincerely of the past misdeeds before you breathe your last.
As for means by which trust and confidence between spouses could be implanted and grown, we state the following two points:
1) Implanting Iman and establishing its pillars, since it produces fear of Allah and guarding Him. So, if each spouse recognizes the other's fear of Allah and that it is not possible to commit a sin or purpose to do misdeeds, then mutual confidence comes into existence.
2) Making the other partner feel the true love he/she has for the other and that he/she will not love anybody else beside him/her. This, we think, might be achieved via presents and words of devotion.
