What punishment does a husband get when he tells his wife "F your mother," and curses her family members? And is it Haram in this situation to postpone being normal with him, meaning being back having sex even though the husband continues curse the wife. What is the punishment for the husband?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is forbidden for the Muslim to curse the mother of his wife or any of her relatives, because doing so means a weakness in his faith. The Prophet said: “A believer is neither a slanderer nor a curser, nor is he obscene or vulgar.” [At-Tirmithi]
Al-Albaani graded this Hadeeth as authentic. There are Sunnah texts warning against cursing the Muslim in particular and stating that doing so is a major sin. Ahmad reported that “cursing the believer is like killing him.” Al-Arna’oot graded this Hadeeth as sound.
At-Teebi explained this by saying “like killing him” means in the extent of prohibition or in the extent of the punishment.”
Moreover, Muslim reported that the Prophet said: “It does not seem proper for a Siddeeq (i.e. a truthful person) that he should be an invoker of curse.”
But the wife should be patient with her husband as this is highly rewarded by Allah. She should keep on advising her husband in a kind manner. She could also ask some pious persons whom she thinks have some influence on him to mediate in this matter.
But more importantly, she should turn to Allah, seek refuge with Him and supplicate Him to guide her husband to the right path and ease her matters. We ask Allah to guide your husband and purify his heart and tongue, and dispel all your worries.
On the other hand, you should not refuse to let him have sex with you for this reason as long as you are satisfied with him as a husband. If you want, you can bring your case to the judge who would – after hearing the evidence – give your husband the choice as in the verse in which Allah Says (what means): {Then, either keep [her] in an acceptable manner or release [her] with good treatment.} [Quran 2: 229]
The scholars state that cursing the wife or her relatives is a reason for her to ask for divorce.
Allah knows best.
