Question
My elder sister is not well for nearly one year. Her problem is not physical. We don't know what it is. She says that her hands are dirty. When she goes to wash her face and hands it has become compulsory for some one to stand near her till she completes her washing. She continues to wash her hands until we force her to come out of the bathroom. She asks again and again 'is it clean or not'. We have gone to many people who perform supernatural things but still there is no difference. One person said that a Jinn is on her. What should we do?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Apparently your sister is under the influence of Satan insinuations and whispers. So, we advise you to treat her with Qur'an and Prophetic Du'a. Let her repeat after you the morning and afternoon Azkar (invocations) and also before sleeping. Try to make her read Qur'an as often as possible, pray and do similar righteous acts. There is no objection to your taking her to psychiatrists and to people who perform Islamic Ruqiya. But beware of charlatans (quacks) and magicians as these will only make her case worse. Finally and most importantly you should return to Allah, begging Him to cure her. You should be sincere in your Du'a. May Allah ease all your matters. Allah knows best.
