I have question about something happen and keep happening in my home in Palestine. I live in USA and I built new home in Palestine to go live there Inshaa Allaah. I have some grape, and other trees around the house (like olive, lemon tree, others). My house is not completely ready it needs paint, electric, etc ...
We noticed like everyday and some time every week some one comes and break the trees, but we can't see anyone, and we do not have any enemies. So my question if this is a jinn work? And if yes what we can do about it? Also do the jinn do this kind of job?
My brother lives in his house which is close to my house and the same thing happened to his house. He lives there and things started in his house but now it is happening in both my and his yard.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We are unable to determine the cause of what is happening to you. It might be that it is a person who comes without you noticing him, and causes that damage, just to play or out of envy; one does not necessarily know his enemies and those who envy him, and it could be due to other things. Nonetheless, there is a possibility that it is the Jinn that are causing the damage that you mentioned in the question.
It is confirmed that the Jinn may take the wealth of humans. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet deputed him to guard Zakat (Al-Fitr) of Ramadan; he narrated: "Someone came and started taking handfuls of the foodstuff (of the Zakat) (stealthily). I took hold of him and said: "I swear by Allaah, I will take you to the Prophet ." He said: "I am needy, I have many dependents, and I am really in great need." I released him, [with the promise that he will not come back again]. In the morning the Prophet asked me, "What did your prisoner do yesterday?" I said, "O Prophet! The person complained of being needy and of having many dependents, so, I pitied him and let him go." The Prophet said: "Indeed, he told you a lie and he will be coming again." I believed that he would show up again as Allaah's Apostle had told me that he would return. So, I waited for him watchfully. When he (showed up and) started stealing handfuls of foodstuff, I caught hold of him again and said, "I will definitely take you to Allaah's Apostle. He said: "Leave me, for I am very needy and have many dependents. I promise I will not come back again." I pitied him and let him go.
In the morning the Prophet asked me: "What did your prisoner do." I replied: "O Allaah's Apostle! He complained of his great need and of too many dependents, so I took pity on him and set him free." Allaah's Apostle said: "Verily, he told you a lie and he will return." I waited for him attentively for the third time, and when he (came and) started stealing handfuls of the foodstuff, I caught hold of him and said: "I will surely take you to Allaah's Apostle as it is the third time you promise not to return, yet you broke your promise and came back." He said: "(Forgive me and) I will teach you some words with which Allaah will benefit you." I asked: "What are they?" He replied: "Whenever you go to bed, recite "Ayatul-Kursi" [Quran 2:255] 'Allaahu laa ilaaha illa huwa-l-Hayy-ul Qayyum' till you finish the whole verse. (If you do so), Allaah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no devil will come near you till the morning. "So, I released him.
In the morning, the Prophet asked: "What did your prisoner do yesterday?" I replied: "He claimed that he would teach me some words by which Allaah will benefit me, so I let him go." Allaah's Apostle asked: "What are they?" I replied: "He said to me, 'Whenever you go to bed, recite Ayatul-Kursi from the beginning to the end, 'Allaahu laa ilaaha illa huwa-l-Hayy-ul Qayyum.' He further said to me: '(If you do so), Allaah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you, and no devil will come near you till morning.' [Abu Hurayrah added that they (the companions ) were very keen to do good deeds.] The Prophet said: "He really spoke the truth, although he is an absolute liar. Do you know whom you were talking to, these three nights, O Abu Hurayrah?" He said, "No." He said, "It was the devil."
In another narration, Abu Ayyoob Al-Ansaari narrated that he had a niche where he used to keep dates. The Jinn used to come and take from it. So he reported this to the Prophet . Ibn Hajar when mentioning the benefits of this narration said: "The Jinn steal and cheat."
If it is confirmed that the Jinn steal things, then it is not unlikely that they can damage plants and cut trees.
A Muslim may protect himself from the devil by reciting verse 2:255 as mentioned in the narration, and by reciting the legislated mention of Allaah in the morning and evening, as it contains supplications of protecting one's family and wealth. Also, you should read the Quran as much as possible, especially chapter 2, as the Prophet said: "Do not make your homes as graves, indeed the devil flees from the house where chapter Al-Baqarah is being read." [Muslim]
Allaah Knows best.
