My problem is that I truly fear death. When I feel any pain, I immediately feel that I will die and leave my children. This fear makes me apprehensive and hinders me from leading a normal life. Please bear in mind that I have firm belief in Allaah The Almighty and I offer my prayers in their prescribed times as I fear Allaah The Almighty. Please advise. May Allaah reward you well.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Fear of death should not lead to deterioration in one’s life; instead one should have confidence in Allaah The Almighty because He is the Only Sustainer, the One who gives and withholds, the Creator of your children and He who promises to sustain them. Consequently, you should not be worried about them. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allaah is its sustenance.} [Quran 11: 6]
If you truly fear death, then this fear should motivate you to do righteous deeds, hasten to do good, and lead you to raise your children in the correct way according to the methodology of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and make them learn the Quran and the teachings of Islam. If you do this, you would not feel sad or grieved if it so happens that you depart from them or that they depart from you. This is because you have brought them up properly, taught them and brought them closer to Allaah The Almighty.
We advise you to make the most of your time in reciting the Quran, intensifying in the remembrance and mentioning of Allaah The Almighty, keeping the company of righteous people and avoiding evil deeds.
Allaah Knows best.
